G-Squad Entertainments “RELOADED” makes history with promotions first ever event
Fans gathered by the thousands in the Adventist Health Arena to enjoy G-Squad Entertainments first ever show of professional boxing in Stockton, California on March 16th. The night was full of action featuring 5 professional bouts.
Opening up the night, a quick KO victory in the second round by Gilroy, California’s own “The Outlaw” Jessie James Guerrero. Guerrero put the pressure on Rodriguez early, his power showing to be too much for Rodriguez to handle. Following a dominant first round, Guerrero finishes it off landing heavy shots to both body and head of Rodriguez. Guerrero moves to 4-0-2 in his professional career. Guerrero looking to make a quick turn around and plans to announce his next bout taking place this summer.
Sacramento’s Lorenzo “Golden One” Powell made his highly anticipated Pro debut versus a 14 fight professional in Valenzuela-Alvarado. Powell heavily pushed the pace of this bout. An impressive unanimous decision win for “Golden One” moving to 1-0 in his professional career. Powell’s coach Marty Chima said “He (Powell) executed the game plan perfectly. We anticipated his opponent coming out and being that “heavy hitter”. He listened and executed. Now we go back and get better”
Fernando Vargas Jr. entered into the arena with his father, the Legendary “El Feroz” Fernando Vargas and brother Amado Vargas by his side. Many Boxing experts believed this to be the biggest test in Vargas Jr’s undefeated career so far, a seasoned vet in Brad Solomon. A common theme of the night, the pressure of Vargas Jr. got the best of Solomon. Keeping Solomon on the back foot , Vargas Jr. sits him down with a straight left within the corner, ending the fight via KO. Fernando Vargas Jr. moves to 13-0 in his professional career, keeping his undefeated streak alive.
In the Main Event, out walks Gabriel Flores Jr. alongside Brice of Enky Boys and father Gabriel Flores Sr., to an arena of thousands of fans cheering him on. A beautiful tribute to his late mother playing on the jumbotron as he enters the ring. Awaiting him is his opponent, Southern California’s Julian Rodarte and a 10 Round bout for the WBA Continental USA Lightweight Title. A back and forward fight with some huge moments for Flores Jr. had the crowed on their feet. Rodarte making the fight more interesting landing a few significant strikes of his own with the fight going to decision. Gabriel Flores Jr. coming out with the split decision victory to win the WBA Continental USA Title in front of his home crowd. “209, when i win, we all win” says Flores Jr. Immediately following his win.
Finishing up the event, enters Salavador Briceno vs. Cameron Krael. Briceno with a dominant Unanimous Decision victory moving him to 17-7 in his pro career.
G-Squad Entertainments’ first event was “history in the making” material. A promotions first professional event in an arena such as the Adventist Health Arena is almost unheard of. Gabriel Flores Sr. and son Flores Jr. took a leap of faith and it definitely paid off. Their hometown of Stockton is very proud. The 209 is very grateful for the return of professional boxing.
