Golden Boy’s “Fight of the year” Contender, Bohachuk vs. Ortiz Jr. announced

Golden Boy promotions announced Serhii Bohachuk vs. Vergil Ortiz jr. in a 12 round Main Event for the Interim WBC Interim Super Welterweight title. Announced on July 6, 2024 via the Golden Boy Promotions Instagram page, this fight takes place on August 10, 2024 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas,Nevada.
When Fight Culture spoke with Ortiz Jr. back in April prior to his last fight in Fresno California, Ortiz Jr. expressed the likelihood of a title fight following a victory over Thomas Dulorme. Ortiz Jr. stopping Dulorme in round one prompting this run for an interim Super Welterweight title.
Press Conference - Undefeated Vergil Ortiz Jr. (21-0, 21KO’s) takes on the current WBC Interim Super Welterweight Champion, Serhii Brohachuk (24-1, 23KO’s) with intentions to put on an absolute war for the fans in Las Vegas, Nevada. Oscar De La Hoya took to the podium to express his excitement for this fight, calling it a potential “Fight of the Year”. De la Hoya also showed his excitement that his signed star and K.O. artist fighter, Vergil Ortiz Jr. will finally have his shot at Gold.
Ortiz Jr. and Bohachuk have a history of training at the same gym and even as sparring partner but back when Portiz Jr. was fighting in a lower weight division. Oritz Jr. explained that a fight is, “very different from sparring” and he intends to show that on August 10. Bohachuk explained that yes, sparring is different and Ortiz Jr. has yet to feel the power that the Urkranian has.
The undercard features a title fight as the undefeated IBF Flyweight World Champion, Gabriela Fundora (13-0, 6 KO’s) takes on Daniela Asenjo (16-3-3, 2KO’s). The remainder of the Undercard has been announced, including 2 fighters local to Fight Culture. Jordan Fuentes (0-0) of Fresno, Ca. and Jennah Creason (0-0) of Visalia will both be making their Pro Debuts following their notable Amateur careers.
